Trekking Information

Tea House Trek
Trekking in Nepal offers two major accommodation choices. The first, increasingly popular one, is overnight stay in Tea Houses (small guest lodge) along the popular routes. These inns range from being very basic dormitories to comfortable, homely hostels with private rooms, dining rooms, dining rooms & solar heated showers. Along the main routes, there are many choices & it is often difficult for the unaccompanied trekker to know where is the best place to stay. One of the responsibilities of your guide is to know which hotels offer clean, comfortable rooms & nutritious, well cooked meals at reasonable prices. Besides shelter & warmth, Tea Houses offer the chance to get to know other trekkers as you visit in the evening & swap adventure stories with people from many countries. You will have the opportunity to meet your Nepali hosts & learn more about the local culture.

The second shelter option is a camping trek. If you make this choice your group will be self-sufficient with tent, cooking facilities, a dining shelter, your own cook & control over the menu. Camping facilities are some times located in an open area in the village or in the grounds of a Tea House. All equipment & food is transported along the way by your own porter staff, under the direction of your guide &, if the group is large enough, a "Sherpa" who supervises the porters & camp set-up. This option is the only choice for some of the more remote areas such as a portion of the Kanchanjunga areas, Manaslu areas, Upper & Lower Dolpo areas, Mustang region, Nar Phu region, round Dhaulagiri, Rolwaling, Makalu, Ganesh Himal & other more remote areas.
