Trip Overview MANI RIMDU FESTIVAL

The most important festival in Tengboche is called the Mani Rimdu. It consists of a nine day meditation cycle and ends with a public blessing ceremony and the world renowned Mask Dances at Tengboche Monastery. This is the special festival combine trek offered by Peak Endeavour Nepal Trek. Those who are interested to combine his/her trek with some glimpse of festival of Nepal. This is just the perfect trek for them. We start our trek after 45 minute excellent mountain flight from Kathmandu. After having some wonderful day in mountain we get to Tanboche where this festival will take place. We spend three days here in Tenboche to watch this festival. This is very interesting and worth of sharing. This trek will not only focus the festival but also glimpse of Worlds highest mountain, an excursion of Kalapathar (5500m) and also Everest base Camp. The trek offers an enduring experience of natural beauty, geological magnificence and profound cross-cultural discovery. The Sherpa residents of Khumbu, the great valley below Mount Everest, believe that all things - mountains, plants and animals are sacred. After spending 3 days in Tenboche seeing festival we climb to Kalapathar, Everest Base Camp and then descend to Lukla again with the same trail and fly back to Kathmandu. The following are the approximate dates of Mani Rimdu events this year based on the Tibetan lunar calendar
26th Oct. 2007: Wong (blessing ceremony for the general public)
27th Oct. 2007: Famous Mask Dances open to the public from 10.00 A.M. to 17.00 P.M. During the whole night there is traditional dancing by the Sherpa community
28th Oct. 2007: is the fire puja.
Clients carry day pack only and walk at their own pace. All logistic will be taken care by sherpa guide and luggage will be carried by porter.

Day to Day Itinerary of Mani Rimdu Festival.

Day 01 :

Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA), you will be met by our Airport Representative, and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 02 :

Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley (Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, Swayambhu, and Kathmandu durbar square). Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 03 :

Today early in the morning, we drive about 15 to 30 minutes to Tribhuwan International Airport. After 30 to 45 minutes of scenic flight to Lukla (2804 mtrs.), we begin our trek to Phakding (2610 mtrs.) - 3 hours easy walking. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 04 :

Trek to Namche Bazaar (3535 mtrs.). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 05 :

Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar
This is a day for an acclimatization. We have a fine walk around the valley to adjust with thin air. We will take you for a hike up to Khumjung and Khunde there you can see the traditional custom of Sherpa peoples.  Namche Bazaar is known as the gateway of the Everest. Besides, a fine view of the Everest and other mountains can be overviewed from this place. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 06 :

Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3850m). 
By reaching Tengboche, we visit a monastery known as Tengboche monastery. Then you will be taken to observe the prayer ceremony whether in the evening or morning. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 07 :

Tengboche Day 1st  Mani Rimdu - ONG - (Blessing). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 08 :

Tengboche Day 2nd CHAM (Masked Dance). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 09 :

Tengboche Day 3rd JINSAK - (Closing Ceremony). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 10 :

Tengboche to Dingboche (4350 mtrs.). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 11 :

Day trip to Chhukung valley and trek back to Dingboche. 
Today you can enjoy another day for acclimatization. This day we will have trip to Chhukung valley, then we return to Dingboche in the evening. We will take you to Chhukung Ri (5546 mtrs) too. From there, we can observe a fifth highest mountain Makalu and 360 degree of panoramic mountain view. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 12 :

Dingboche to Lobuche (4950 mtrs.). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 13 :

Lobuche to Ghorakshep (5160 mtrs.). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 14 :

The day starts with a hike up to Kalapathar (5545 mtrs.), an excellent viewpoint to observe the Mount. Everest and innumerable spectacular mountains views. Then our overnight stay will be at Ghorakshep. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 15 :

Trek to Everest Base camp (5400 mtrs.) and return to Ghorakshep. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 16 :

Trek down to Pheriche (4240 mtrs.). Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 17 :

Trek to Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 18 :

Trek to Lukla. Overnight at Guest House. B.L.D.

Day 19 :

Morning flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 20 :

Leisure day in Kathmandu (it's also spare day incase of bad weather in Lukla). Overnight at hotel. B.B.

Day 21 :

Transfer to Airport for your home departure. Farewell !!
