Now we plan to trek in one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Nepal which still lies surrounded in mystery. The area is abundant with wildlife, as inhabitation consists of only scattered villages. There are musk deer, blue sheep and, for the believer, the Yeti! Magnificent views of Everest, Makalu and Kanchanjunga massif will make the trip worth your while. Kanchenjunga 8585m is the third highest mountain in the world. "Kang-chen-zod-nga", meaning "Five Great Treasuries Of The Snow", actually, has seven major summits and the avalanches that Kanchenjunga throws down are said to be the largest anywhere else in the world! Your journey to this remote area passes through the same route, which was once the Base Camp for expeditions attempting the North Face of Kanchenjunga and the culmination of the first part of the trek.

Peak Endeavour’s Nepal provides an excellent overall experience from the time of arrival in Nepal until you leave on your flight home. Norbu Lama, the owner of Peak Endeavour’s is a very knowledgeable guide. He knows much about the people, religion and regions of Nepalese trekking. Moreover he provided complete sightseeing and shopping in the Kathmandu area during our stay. His staff is courteous, honest and provides professional service and excellent security throughout the trek. The kitchen staff and chief cook understand the health concerns of weak western stomachs and did their best to keep us healthy. No one had health issues throughout our 20 day trek. The pace of the trek is well suited to achieve the altitude goals of the highest pass. Acute Mountain sickness was a non-issue as we progressed at a pace that provided adequate time to adapt to the altitude. The camping outfit provided by Peak Endeavour’s used high quality sleeping and eating tents. We felt like royalty. The trek itself was the best ever. Much diversity of culture, terrain, and ecologies. In summary, we would have no hesitation in any regard to use Peak Endeavour’s Nepal again in the future and greatly enjoyed our trip in 2010. We will be back!

This route was opened to the trekkers in 1988, though people have trekked in the area in connection with mountaineering expedition since the turn of the century. Our long trek here climbs from the intensively cultivated hillsides of the Nepal Midlands, populated by the Rai and Limbu tribes, towards the peaks of Jannu and Khabru and the great wall of Kumbakarna, Kanchenjunga and Rathong, passing on the way through some of the finest high mountain scenery anywhere. Until very recently this was a restricted area, so this is an ideal trek for those who already know Nepal and want to get away from the better known areas and visit a remoter part where few foreigners have penetrated.
