Testimonial

Peak Endeavour’s Nepal provides an excellent overall experience from the time of arrival in Nepal until you leave on your flight home. Norbu Lama, the owner of Peak Endeavour’s is a very knowledgeable guide. He knows much about the people, religion and regions of Nepalese trekking. Moreover he provided complete sightseeing and shopping in the Kathmandu area during our stay. His staff is courteous, honest and provides professional service and excellent security throughout the trek. The kitchen staff and chief cook understand the health concerns of weak western stomachs and did their best to keep us healthy. No one had health issues throughout our 20 day trek. The pace of the trek is well suited to achieve the altitude goals of the highest pass. Acute Mountain sickness was a non-issue as we progressed at a pace that provided adequate time to adapt to the altitude. The camping outfit provided by Peak Endeavour’s used high quality sleeping and eating tents. We felt like royalty. The trek itself was the best ever. Much diversity of culture, terrain, and ecologies. In summary, we would have no hesitation in any regard to use Peak Endeavour’s Nepal again in the future and greatly enjoyed our trip in 2010. We will be back!

Mustang Trekking
Mustang TrekkingTrek to Mustang is one of the "premier" photographic destinations of the world. The mystical atmosphere of this region presents unique and unforgettable photo opportunities. This ancient mountain kingdom nestled high above the Himalayan range between Tibet and Nepal was closed to the Trekking in Mustang
outside world until the 1990"s. The distinctive culture and way of life here has changed little over the centuries. This is a rare chance to see well preserved Tibetan culture in its purest form. A number of monasteries here even predate the earliest Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The surreal landscapes are spectacular and are unlike anything seen in the rest of Nepal. Traveling through Mustang is similar to being in the red rock canyon country of the American southwest with an added benefit of being surrounded by the magnificent Himalayan mountains and ancient Tibetan culture. The diversity of landscapes, the stunning light, and the unique architecture make this one of the earth most grand and inspiring places to photograph. Mustang is a restricted area with fewer than 1000 visitors per year. The government of Nepal charges a special permit fee of $700.00 for each foreign visitor which is included in the land costs.

Lo-Manthang's life is deep rooted in the religious sentiments and culture of its people where polyandry is still practiced. The township abounds with many chortens, maniwalls and Monasteries. Prayer flags flutter above all the houses in, what is, an almost surreal setting. A mystical region frozen in history, Mustang remains one of the ultimate journeys.
  • Mustang Round Trek
Mustang Round Trek At present Mustang is a very popular trekking region in Nepal. The Home Ministry of Nepal announced the Opening of the restricted areas in October 1991. There is also strict control in obtaining a special permit from the Department of Immigration to protect their tradition from outside influence as well as to protect their environment. According to government rule, liaison officers were accompanied with the trekking groupsin previous time but now there are nor necessary to have them. The region of the Tibetan influence, Kaligandaki, from the Tibetan border south to Kagbeni is generally referred to as " Upper Mustang". The trek to Lo Manthang is through an almost tree-less barren landscape, a steep rocky trail up and down hill and panoramic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and several other peaks make your trek memorable. The Monasteries in this areas are most Gelukpa, Shakyapa and Nyingmapa sect. There are also 2 monastery of Bonpo religion who were in Tibet before the Buddhism enter. I am planing to give you the detail information of this trek after you arrive in Nepal.

  • Lomanthang Trek
Lomanthang Trek The trek into Upper Mustang is still a privileged entrance into the way of life of the true mountain people. Mustang is situated north of the Annapurna Himal on the borders of Tibet, which geographically it is part of. It was a separate Kingdom within the boundaries of Nepal as late as 1950, the "Raja" of Mustang still maintains his residence in Lo-Mantang (the region's Capital). Mustang's wealth was derived from being a major trading hub on the Kali Gandaki / Thak Khola trade route to Tibet. Our destination is the exotic walled capital city of Lo Manthang. Built in 1380 A. D. by the first King of Lo, the city stands as a testimony to Lo-Manthang prosperity of rich cultural heritage. The city wall some 700 m. long and 8 m.
